Crispy Chicken Wings Recipe

Crispy chicken wings are the ultimate crowd-pleaser, perfect for game days, parties, or a simple weeknight dinner. This recipe delivers golden, crunchy wings without the need for deep frying.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken wings, split into flats and drumettes

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder (not baking soda)

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Optional Sauce Ideas:

  • Buffalo sauce

  • Honey garlic sauce

  • Barbecue sauce

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken Wings: Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. Removing excess moisture helps achieve crispiness.

Season the Wings: In a large bowl, toss the wings with baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.

Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 2-3 minutes.

Cook the Wings: Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy. Increase the temperature to 400°F (200°C) for the last 5 minutes for extra crispiness.

Oven Method: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Place the wings on a wire rack set over a baking sheet. Bake for 35-40 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy and cooked through.

Toss with Sauce: If using a sauce, toss the cooked wings in a large bowl with your preferred sauce until evenly coated. Serve immediately.

Tips for Perfect Crispy Wings

  • Use Baking Powder: This helps dry out the skin and achieve that crispy texture. Ensure it's aluminum-free to avoid a bitter taste.

  • Single Layer: Avoid overcrowding in the air fryer basket or on the baking sheet for even cooking.

  • Reheating: Reheat leftover wings in the air fryer at 375°F for 5-7 minutes to restore crispiness.

These crispy chicken wings are versatile and irresistible. Whether you prefer them plain or sauced, air-fried or baked, they’re sure to be a hit!
