Seasoned Fries Recipe
Written By Avi Green
Seasoned fries are a delicious side dish or snack that’s easy to make and bursting with flavor. Using an air fryer ensures crispiness without excessive oil, making these fries a healthier alternative.
Ingredients
-
4 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and cut into thin fries
-
2 tablespoons olive oil
-
1 teaspoon paprika
-
1 teaspoon garlic powder
-
1 teaspoon onion powder
-
½ teaspoon chili powder or cayenne pepper (optional for spice)
-
½ teaspoon dried oregano or thyme
-
½ teaspoon salt
-
¼ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Prepare the Potatoes: Peel the potatoes and cut them into evenly sized fries. Soak them in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch, then drain and pat dry thoroughly.
Season the Fries: In a large bowl, toss the fries with olive oil. Mix the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, oregano, salt, and black pepper in a separate bowl, then sprinkle the seasoning over the fries. Toss to coat evenly.
Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 2-3 minutes.
Cook the Fries: Place the seasoned fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 15-18 minutes, shaking the basket every 5-7 minutes to ensure even cooking. For extra crispiness, increase the temperature to 400°F (200°C) during the last 2-3 minutes of cooking.
Oven Method: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Arrange the seasoned fries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
Serve: Remove the fries from the air fryer or oven and serve immediately. Pair with ketchup, aioli, or your favorite dipping sauce.
Tips for Perfect Seasoned Fries
-
Use russet or Yukon Gold potatoes for the best texture.
-
Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to ensure all fries cook evenly.
-
For extra crispiness, sprinkle a small amount of cornstarch on the fries before seasoning.
These seasoned fries are crispy, flavorful, and easy to make. Whether you air fry or bake them, they’re guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser!
